Saturday 12th 2015 was a historic day for the whole of civilisation, many would argue, as 196 nations from around the world came together in Paris to adopt the world’s first universal agreement to fight an existential threat to the human race, and life as we know it on planet earth.
Solarcentury founder Jeremy Leggett joined the climate summit to report on the unfolding drama as for two weeks countries negotiated the Paris Agreement, a global agreement on the reduction of climate change, the text of which represents a consensus of the representatives of the 196 nations.
The Agreement signals to financial institutions that the hundreds of billions of dollars invested annually in clean energy today will become trillions, and much faster than most people ever suspected. It will tell energy incumbents that that the fossil-fuel era is over: that they are now in an era of transition, of rapid managed retreat, whether they like it or not.
Couldn’t be at the Paris talks? Then read Solarcentury founder Jeremy Leggett’s serialised book, reported right from the ‘front lines of the carbon war’. A chapter has been released regularly in the lead up to the Paris climate talks, and now, the final three chapters of the book will appear in January to conclude the book.
The completed book will be downloadable free in the first week of January. A printed version of the book will be ready later in January.
