Divisa Solar launch in Panama

In  February 2016, we launched the Divisa Solar 10MWp project, built by Solarcentury in Panama for ECOSolar. Members of the Solarcentury management team travelled to Panama City to present the Divisa Solar project to clients and investors in the unique setting of the old town.

Frans Van den Heuvel, CEO of Solarcentury opened the event by expressing his gratitude for the support and trust shown by the ECOSolar team – the project’s client – and emphasised the synergy between the two teams and the work undertaken. Divisa Solar is the first solar farm to meet the requirements of the Panamanian photovoltaic regulation.

Those present included Andreas Eggenberg, CEO of Grupo ECOS; Alberto Rabanal, CEO of ECOSolar; representatives from Energía Canal de Panamá; the Panama Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and leading figures from the world of banking and investment.

Solarcentury’s  Jose Miguel Ferrer, Senior Business Development Manager for Latin America, spoke about Solarcentury’s position in the Central American solar energy market and the development strategy for the other Latin American markets, where Solarcentury already boasts a strong presence.

Jose Miguel went on to describe the milestones reached by the Divisa Solar 10MWp project, its benefits and contribution to a more diverse and cleaner energy matrix for Panama. EPC contractor Solarcentury has also been commissioned to take care of operations and maintenance at the site. He finished with a short film about the construction of the project and Solarcentury’s role. The event concluded with a cocktail reception and a presentation of solar lamps from the SolarAid, funded by Solarcentury, whose mission is to eradicate the use of kerosene lamps in disadvantaged communities.
