Self builders working on creating their dream homes, or those retrofitting, will be able to see Sunstation for themselves at this year’s BuildIt Live in Kent on February 4th and 5th.
Sunstation is a building-integrated solar panel system (BIPV) and it was launched to the UK market in May 2016. The first customer was British fashion designer Wayne Hemingway, who retrofitted it into the roof of his unique Sussex home.
Sunstation can typically be installed in one day, with no roof cutting involved or any major surgery to the roof required. The high quality solar system sits in the roof in place of the existing roof tiles and forms a weather proof barrier. It is designed to work with a wide range of roof tiles and slates.
While existing solar systems are often formed of blue solar panels with a silver frame, Sunstation comprises sleek black PV panels that are more in keeping with the appearance of most roofs. Sunstation is fitted into the roof so that it sits flush with the roofline, which means it’s less obtrusive than traditional systems that sit on the roof.
Gary Watson and Colin Deans from Solarcentury will be on hand to answer questions.
